In 2001, the franciscan Clarist Congregation embarked on a significant mission in Tanzania, marking a new chapter in their global outreach efforts. This endeavor was initiated by Rev. The Mission initially took root at St. Francis referral Hospital in Ifakara, where the Franciscan Clarist congregation of Idukki Province began its outreach efforts. Since then, the mission has expanded significantly, with the establishment of five communities with seventeen sisters across various fields in four regions of Tanzania. These sisters are actively engaged in education, medical services and pastoral activities within the parish, embodying the congregation’s commitment to holistic service and community development. Through their dedication and tireless efforts, they continue to make a profound impact on the lives of the people they serve, symbolize the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi and St. Clare and the Congregations Mission.
